It is true that there is an argument among people whether curriculums at schools should emphasize art subjects or science subjects. From my point of view, both are really important to teach to the students. In this essay, both perspectives will be critically analyzed before presenting my opinion.
It is obvious that the subjects which are related to art are not being added to the school curriculum in most of the schools. As a consequence, the young people’s understanding of the underlying meaning of art is becoming worse. They should understand that there are various types of art not only drawing and painting but also music and entertainment. In addition, art can provide different emotions which result in enhancement of the students’ mental health. What is more, by learning art subjects, they can also improve creativity skills.
On the other hand, it is undeniable that art related jobs cannot give young people guarantees in the future. However, careers which are related to science subjects can be widely seen. There are a lot of opportunities to get jobs related to medicine and science such as food quality analysts, doctors and nurses. What is more, if the students are aiming to learn art subjects, the country’s environmental and extinction of species can also be concerned. As the young people are the country’s future, they should know how to preserve environmental problems and endangered species in order to minimize the concomitant problems. Hence, science subjects are more important than art which is just a form of fun.
To sum up, although science subjects can create job opportunities and reduce the country’s environmental problems, art subjects can also provide innovative skills and the betterment of mentality. It is my firm belief that it is the best option to have a regulation of teaching and learning both subjects not only for the students themselves but also for the country.
