It is understandable why many generations within a family live in the same house. It is because Vietnam is founded upon collectivism. What I mean by that is we have always lived in a collective society where people care about each other and that collectivism is best shown through how a family is structured. Unlike individualistic nations like the United States or Canada where kids usually leave their parents when they reach 18, children in our nation usually stay with their parents and even grandparents since they believe that this is so significant to preserving the bond between family members. And I mean if we have bonded family relationships it is vital to foster healthy social connections and to promote a societal fabric as well.
