In the initial year in North America, the percentage of CO₂ Emissions accounted for approximately 50%, then in 2005, this country faced a slow decrease. However, the trend started to grow in the next four years. In 1990 the proportion of emissions made up 20%, in 2005 the trend saw a slight rise in the following years then reached a peak of approximately 50%.
