Speaker 1 (1)
Hello. Linda speaking.
Speaker 2 (2)
Oh, hi, Linda. This is Matt Brooks. Alex White gave me your number.
Speaker 2 (3)
He said you'd be able to give me some advice about moving to Banford.
Speaker 1 (4)
Yes. Alex did mention you. How can I help?
Speaker 2 (5)
Well, first of all, which area to live in?
Speaker 1 (6)
Well, I live in Dalton, which is a really nice suburb, not too expensive, and there's a nice park.
Speaker 2 (7)
Sounds good. Do you know how much it would be to rent a 2-bedroom flat there?
Speaker 1 (8)
Yeah. You should be able to get something reasonable for 850 pounds per month.
Speaker 1 (9)
That's what people typically pay.
Speaker 1 (10)
You certainly wouldn’t want to pay more than 900 pounds.
Speaker 1 (11)
That doesn't include bills or anything.
Speaker 2 (12)
No. That sounds alright. I'll definitely have a look there.
Speaker 2 (13)
Are the transport links easy from where you live?
Speaker 1 (14)
Well, I'm very lucky. I work in the city centre, so I don't have to use public transport. I go by bike.
Speaker 2 (15)
Oh, I wish I could do that. Is it safe to cycle around the city?
Speaker 1 (16)
Yes. It's fine, and it keeps me fit.
Speaker 1 (17)
Anyway, driving to work in the city centre would be a nightmare because there's hardly any parking.
Speaker 1 (18)
And the traffic during the rush hour can be bad.
Speaker 2 (19)
I'd be working from home, but I'd have to go to London one or two days a week.
Speaker 1 (20)
Oh, that's perfect. Getting to London is no problem.
Speaker 1 (21)
There's a fast train every 30 minutes, which only takes 45 minutes.
Speaker 2 (22)
That's good.
Speaker 1 (23)
Yeah. The train service isn't bad during the week, and they run quite late at night.
Speaker 1 (24)
It's weekends that are a problem.
Speaker 1 (25)
They're always doing engineering work, and you have to take a bus to Hadham and pick up the train there, which is really slow.
Speaker 1 (26)
But other than that, Banford's a great place to live. I've never been happier.
Speaker 1 (27)
There are some nice restaurants in the city centre and a brand new cinema, which has only been open a couple of months.
Speaker 1 (28)
There's a good art centre too.
Speaker 2 (29)
Sounds like Banford's got it all.
Speaker 1 (30)
Yes. We're really lucky. There are lots of really good aspects to living here.
Speaker 1 (31)
The schools are good, and the hospital here is one of the best in the country.
Speaker 1 (32)
Everyone I know who's been there's had a positive experience.
Speaker 1 (33)
Oh, I can give you the name of my dentist too in Bridge Street, if you're interested.
Speaker 1 (34)
I've been going to him for years, and I've never had any problems.
Speaker 2 (35)
Oh, okay. Thanks.
Speaker 1 (36)
I'll find his number and send it to you.
Speaker 2 (37)
Thanks. That would be really helpful.
Speaker 1 (38)
Are you planning to visit Banford soon?
Speaker 2 (39)
Yes. My wife and I are both coming next week.
Speaker 2 (40)
We want to make some appointments with estate agents.
Speaker 1 (41)
I could meet you if you like and show you around.
Speaker 2 (42)
Are you sure? We'd really appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (43)
Either a Tuesday or Thursday is good for me, after 5:30.
Speaker 2 (44)
Thursday is preferable. Tuesday, I need to get home before 6 PM.
Speaker 1 (45)
Okay. Great. Let me know which train you're catching, and I'll meet you in the cafe outside.
Speaker 1 (46)
You can't miss it. It's opposite the station and next to the museum.
Speaker 2 (47)
Brilliant. I'll text you next week then. Thanks so much for all the advice.
Speaker 1 (48)
No problem. I'll see you next week.
