Speaker 1 (1)
Hi. Come and take a seat.
Speaker 1 (3)
My name's Carl Rogers, and I'm one of the doctors here at the Total Health Clinic.
Speaker 1 (4)
So I understand this is your first visit to the clinic.
Speaker 1 (6)
Okay. Well, I hope you'll be very happy with the service you receive here.
Speaker 1 (7)
So if it's alright with you, I'll take a few details to help me give you the best possible service.
Speaker 1 (9)
So can I check, first of all, that we have the correct personal details for you?
Speaker 1 (10)
So your full name is Julie Anne Garcia.
Speaker 2 (11)
That's correct.
Speaker 1 (12)
Perfect. And can I have a contact phone number?
Speaker 2 (13)
It's 219-442-9785.
Speaker 1 (14)
Okay. And then can I just check that we have the correct date of birth?
Speaker 2 (15)
October 10th, 1992.
Speaker 1 (16)
Oh, I actually have 1991. I'll just correct that now.
Speaker 1 (17)
Right. So that's all good. Now I just need a few more personal details.
Speaker 1 (18)
Do you have an occupation, either full-time or part-time?
Speaker 2 (19)
Uh, yes. I work full time in Esterhazy's - you know, the restaurant chain.
Speaker 2 (20)
I started off as a waitress there a few years ago, and I'm a manager now.
Speaker 1 (21)
Oh I know them, yeah, they’re down on 114th Street, aren’t they?
Speaker 2 (22)
Uh, that's right.
Speaker 1 (23)
Yeah. I've been there a few times. I just love their salads.
Speaker 2 (24)
That’s good to hear.
Speaker 1 (25)
Right. So one more thing I need to know before we talk about why you're here, Julie, and that's the name of your insurance company.
Speaker 2 (26)
It’s Cawley Life Insurance, that’s C-A-W-L-E-Y.
Speaker 1 (27)
Excellent. Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (28)
Now Julie, let’s look at how we can help you.
Speaker 1 (29)
So tell me a little about what brought you here today.
Speaker 2 (30)
Well, I've been getting a pain in my knee, the left one.
Speaker 2 (31)
Not very serious at first, but it's gotten worse, so I thought I ought to see someone about it.
Speaker 1 (32)
That's certainly the right decision.
Speaker 1 (33)
So how long have you been aware of this pain?
Speaker 1 (34)
Is it just a few days, or is it longer than that?
Speaker 2 (35)
Longer. It's been worse for the last couple of days, but it's 3 weeks since I first noticed it.
Speaker 2 (36)
It came on quite gradually, though, so I kind of ignored it at first.
Speaker 1 (37)
And have you taken any medication yourself or treated it in anyway?
Speaker 2 (38)
Um, Yeah. I've been taking medication to deal with the pain, Tylenol, and that works okay for a few hours, but I don't like to keep taking it.
Speaker 1 (39)
Okay. And what about heat treatment?
Speaker 1 (40)
Have you tried applying heat at all?
Speaker 2 (41)
No. But I have been using ice on it for the last few days.
Speaker 1 (42)
And does that seem to help the pain at all?
Speaker 2 (43)
A little. Yes.
Speaker 1 (44)
Good. Now you look as if you're quite fit normally.
Speaker 1 (46)
So do you do any sport on a regular basis?
Speaker 2 (47)
Yes. I play a lot of tennis. I belong to a club, so I go there a lot.
Speaker 2 (48)
I'm quite competitive, so I enjoy that side of it as well as the exercise, but I haven't gone since this started.
Speaker 1 (49)
Sure. And you do any other types of exercise?
Speaker 2 (50)
Uh, Yeah. I sometimes do a little swimming, but usually just when I'm on vacation.
Speaker 2 (51)
But, normally, I go running a few times a week, maybe 3 or 4 times.
Speaker 1 (52)
So your legs are getting quite a pounding, but you haven't had any problems up to now?
Speaker 2 (53)
No. Not with my legs. I did have an accident last year when I slipped and hurt my shoulder, but that's better now.
Speaker 1 (54)
Excellent. And do you have any allergies?
Speaker 2 (55)
No. None that I'm aware of.
Speaker 1 (56)
And do you take any medication on a regular basis?
Speaker 2 (57)
Well, I take vitamins, but that's all. I'm generally very healthy.
Speaker 1 (58)
Okay. Well, let's have a closer look and see what might be causing this problem.
Speaker 1 (59)
If you can...
