  1. Mahmudul Hasan says:

When it comes to the issue of spending money on railways rather than roads, a significant number of inhabitants stand with different kinds of views. While a good number of individuals tend to take this issue as rosy, others seem to hold the opposite tend. However, I am going to outline both sides of this issue prior to giving a reasoned conclusion.

On the one hand, a great number of merits come from this affair in many ways. The first and foremost point is that there is no better way to travel long distance than with rail transportation. To cite an example, when people travel by train they don’t face any type of traffic jam or any other problem. Another worth mentioning point is that at pick hour, travelling by train to reach the office on time, there can’t convenient system than this. Last but not least, building a railway communication much less than building a road which is less cost effective for governments.

However, it also seems to be more likely to come up with a couple of shortcomings. To begin with, a major problem with rail transportation is that passengers can’t get on and off whenvever they want because of which people prefer road. Hence, they do not have to walk far. Moreover, some countries railway transportation cost is higher than road. For instance, Bangladesh metro rail ticket cost is much higher than any other countries which is expensive for students and low income people.

To sum up, having illustrated both sides of this affair, I would like to state my opinion that I strongly agree with this statement as it comes up with a good number of merits.

  2. Louis Wong says:

    BAND 8.5
Some argue that governments should focus more on improving railways rather than roads. I agree with this statement and think that the advantages of spending more money on railways outweigh the disadvantages.

To begin with, using transportation on the road may take longer to reach a desired location because road transportation can get stuck in a traffic jam. On the other hand, transportation on railways will not deal with that kind of problem since they are designed to move in one direction. As a result, people can avoid psychological stress and save more time. One of the prime examples of this is a person who undergoes heavy stress as he is late to go to work because of a sudden traffic jam. In addition, the more people that use transportation on railways, the number of traffic jams will be reduced substantially. This is why investing more in railways can make both transportation processes become more effective and efficient.

As for the second reason, it is true that transportation usage on the road can be used more flexibly; therefore, people can stop anywhere they want. Hence, they do not have to walk far. However, walking from the railway area to a desired location every day can enhance health substantially. Moreover, the cost of transportation on railways is cheaper, saving more money. Thus, encouraging people to use transportation on railways can make them healthier and save more money.

To sum up, I believe that investing more in railways has substantial advantages with only insignificant disadvantages.

  3. SABBIR says:

Many governments today place the highest importance on economic progress, believing that a strong economy is the foundation for national development. However, some people argue that other aspects of progress, such as social welfare, education, and environmental protection, are equally significant. This essay will discuss both views before presenting my own opinion.

On one hand, governments prioritize economic growth because it directly influences the living standards of citizens. When a country’s economy grows, job opportunities increase, businesses expand, and the government collects more tax revenue. This money can then be used to develop infrastructure, healthcare, and public services. For example, countries with strong economies, such as Japan and Germany, are able to invest heavily in public transport and education systems. Therefore, economic progress can act as the foundation on which other types of progress depend.

On the other hand, focusing only on economic progress may lead to serious social and environmental problems. If a country prioritizes industry and business growth without considering environmental protection, it may face issues such as pollution, climate change, and loss of natural resources. Similarly, if a nation ignores social progress, such as improving education or reducing inequality, the society may become unstable. For instance, many developing countries achieve high GDP growth but still struggle with poverty and poor healthcare. This shows that economic development alone is not enough for long-term stability and well-being.

In my opinion, while economic growth is important, it should not be the sole priority. A balanced approach that includes social welfare, environmental sustainability, and cultural development is essential for a country’s true progress.

  4. Gultaj Alizade says:

Many people believe that nations should invest more in rail lines instead of roadways. I firmly believe that the lines are more environmentally friendly and can be helpful in solving traffic problems.

Nowadays, subways are very vital among citizens due to their sustainability and cost-efficiency. Today, trains, which are a popular mode of transportation, can cause less air pollution than cars or trucks. It is known that trains emit less carbon and give many people the possibility to travel around the world without leaving a carbon footprint behind them. For example, in 2023, Germany had a great initiative, and they announced their project to all world citizens. If a person buys a ticket once during the summer, he or she can use it for the next three months without limitation. As a result, this movement gives people a chance to buy tickets easily to travel across Europe and the UK without causing damage to nature.

Furthermore, an increase in the number of railways might reduce traffic and possible accidents in urban areas. Moreover, it helps to decrease the need for private vehicle use in people’s daily lives, where subways can carry a large number of passengers during a day. For example, compared to roads, one rail system can carry up to 500 people at the same time with the help of newly released high-speed trains; therefore, highways always have limited speeds and can take hours to reach a final destination.

In conclusion, governments should consider the benefits of investing money to improve railways more than roads; thus, the rail infrastructure can reduce traffic in urban cities and be more sustainable for the future of the world.

  5. Cecilia Krauss says:

There is a popular argument that public funding should be directed to railways instead of roads. This essay will explore the main reasons why I actually disagree with this statement.

While trains are more ecologically friendly and safer means of transportation than cars or buses, they are also objectively a scarcer and pricier one. In fact, the costs for train tickets are, usually, considerably higher than those for traveling by bus. Moreover, the percentage of accidents on railroads is exceedingly lower than the proportion of traffic accidents involving vehicles on roads. Additionally, for trains to significantly substitute cars and buses as the main way of transporting people and products, the number of railroads would have to increase exponentially, which would need an amount of investment so exorbitant that it would be impractical for governments to provide.

Furthermore, the number of individuals and delivery trucks transiting on roads is astronomical, which makes it impossible to have a decrease as significant as would be necessary, in the amount of time needed, in order to justify lowering the budget currently invested on road maintenance. Actually, without this drop in road traffic, funding the maintenance of roads remains a priority for governments that focus on people’s safety and lowering accident statistics. In addition, if a huge financial effort is directed to improving railways, other areas—such as public health and education—might have their budgets shrunk to accommodate this change in the percentage of funding.

In conclusion, although society would definitely benefit from concentrating its funds on railroads, these beneficial consequences are contingent on an unreasonable amount of money, which could adversely affect the country’s economy or would take away from other important areas of investment.

  6. ravi teja velpula says:

Road’s infrastructure and railway networks play a crucial role in countries development. In addition to investments in railways, governments should also spend on roadways.

Trains are the cheapest mode of transportation to transport goods from one location to another location. Having a dedicated railway network for commercial purposes across country will significantly reduce the delivery time of goods, which in turn attracts the private investors. For instance, according to recent survey conducted by World Bank reveals, most of the companies before establishing an industry look for connectivity of the area to import the raw materials and export their final products to different parts of the area.

Connecting every part of the country area with rails is a tedious and money bleeding task. Especially when most part of the country is covered with terrains, water bodies. Furthermore, in emergency situations such as shifting an injured person to hospitals. In such conditions roads will play crucial role. The life cycle of roadways is short due to movement of heavy vehicles, heavy rainfalls. In order to restore the damaged roads local council should allocate funds. For example, Majority of area roads in India are not well maintained due to improper budget allocations every year leading to inconvenience for both common man and industrialists.

In conclusion, railways play an important role in countries development as they cost less. However, in emergency cases roadways come in handy as they connect every part of the country. Having said that, government prioritizing the railways should not neglect the roadway investments.
