Some individuals believe that books and newspapers will be accessible online, and they will not have to buy these products because it will be easy to access them from websites. This issue remains a huge discussion among individuals. I agree with the given statement to a large extent.

The foremost argument to justify my stand is that online books and newspapers have considerable popularity these days. These products are becoming more accessible day by day. The improvement of the internet and websites allows people to find documents whenever they want. This situation implies that buying books and newspapers is unnecessary because the internet paves the way for obtaining these products easily. For instance, recently, it has become difficult to find newspapers from supermarkets because people already opt for reading newspapers online. If they search for news from Google or other search platforms, they find this news properly.

Furthermore, the other reason to prove my point is that book prices are increasing continually. This issue causes students to not be able to buy books from bookshops and other places. Students always tend to use technological devices to find things, such as documents for their lessons. This situation will cause significant problems, like reducing book production because of accessing books online. It is evident that reducing books facilitates these products becoming more accessible online. For example, when students do not want to buy books from shops and save more money, they always prefer to use online to access these books. Preferring this solution results in websites developing.

On the contrary, some people think that reading a real book and newspaper is more efficient than reading an electronic book. These people tend to buy these books and newspapers because it can be more comfortable to read them with real pages.

To conclude the discussion, while some individuals still support reading real books and newspapers, others believe that in the future, it will be difficult to find printed books and newspapers because of the improvement of websites. I agree with this statement because printed books and newspapers can be expensive, and electronic books are more useful. band7

Advancement in technology is seen in today’s fast-paced world. Online learning and e-book facilities are gaining popularity day by day as the world is becoming a global village and the internet is the main stream of it. Almost everything is available online nowadays, from a small kitchen utensil to a big house.

I totally agree with the point that online reading will take the place of printed books and newspapers. E-books and e-learning are gaining popularity as they are available for everyone, and they are free of cost, or sometimes they are paid, but the amount is affordable for individuals. A person can have easy access to online books. Moreover, it is a piece of cake for everyone to have access to any book they desire through online platforms. For instance, an e-book is a platform which gives access to read books and also download them.

After COVID-19, the trend of online studies and books peaked, and until now it is being used by lecturers and students. It is easy for students and also for teachers to give lectures and notes online. Therefore, there is no hassle to print the notes on paper and waste money on printing. Also, access to study material becomes easy because of online reading. Moreover, students do not have to wait for books to be printed. They can get readily access through online platforms.

All in all, I see the future of the world more digitalized than today. People will have access to read everything without paying, so there is no need for printed material.

Many people believe that in the near future, people will prefer to read or download everything from the internet and will stop buying paper books or newspapers. I completely agree with this statement. Firstly, I will discuss the benefits of reading online, and then how environmentally friendly an action it is.

The number of individuals is on the rise giving up paper and purchasing books through the internet. In today’s world, almost everyone—from children to elderly people—has access to the internet. Furthermore, 30 years ago, individuals needed to wake up early to go and wait in line to get a newspaper; however, nowadays, it takes just 10 seconds to go to the main websites of different newspapers, such as The New York Times, The Economist, and The Guardian, without spending money on it. In the future, it will be possible to read books in many languages immediately after launching, without waiting for months for the translation, with the help of artificial intelligence.

Additionally, while it is good to have physical paper in one’s hand and feel that vibe, it is true to mention that paper is not environmentally friendly and every year more than 10% of trees are cut for this reason. Some support the idea that paperback books are a waste of money and harmful to nature. Moreover, online books and newspapers will be a good way to deal with global climate change and will help to decrease paper usage with the high level of accessibility from everywhere at any time without paying. According to research by the Data Science Association, in the next 50 years, from schools to universities everyone will be able to use online materials and there will be no physical books anymore. As a result, there will be an increase in the number of trees by 10%.

To sum up, I completely stand with the idea of using online materials and websites to access information or books; hence, this will help to cut paper usage and increase the accessibility of information for everyone.

  5. Cecilia Krauss says:

Readers are expected to opt for reading everything online in the future, as it will be free. I partially disagree with this statement.

Although I do believe that some might not be able to afford to buy everything they wish to read and, therefore, need alternative access to those items (which is underscored by the increasing number of free options throughout the internet), there are those who prefer to spend money on paperback versions. This is due to the fact that many like the habit of having the real book or newspaper while they quietly read and enjoy their tranquility without the added stimuli provided by any device’s light, or the constant distractions brought by the incessant notifications many of us receive daily.

Furthermore, even though they will probably be considered more as luxury items than necessities in a few years, this does not detract from the fact that there will still be a significant market for printed items. For instance, every real fan of a book series wants to have the hardcopy books, preferably with the exquisite illustrations that frequently come in them. Additionally, some argue that reading a physical book is more enjoyable, comfortable, and easier to concentrate on and get through.

In conclusion, while some may choose to read everything online to avoid paying for books or newspapers, I believe the joy of holding an actual book or newspaper in one’s hands and flipping through its pages will never be overshadowed by the prospect of not having to pay for the online version, if one can afford it.
