Sam, a small bird with shiny skin, loved to sing. One sunny day, he saw a sign for a singing contest. Excited, he flew to the site, where birds of all sizes gathered. Sam found a spot on the side of the stage and took a deep sigh to calm his nerves. When it was his turn, he sang so beautifully that even the flowers seemed to slow their swaying to listen. After his song, he took a bow and accidentally stepped on a banana peel, causing him to slip. Everyone gasped, but, Sam just laughed and hopped back up. As he flew off, he noticed his reflection in the lake, and saw his feathers sink into the water, creating ripples. Sam’s heart was light, and he felt a sense of pride that was bigger than any prize. He knew that sometimes, taking part and doing your hardest is the true victory.
