A really meaningful thing I saw on social media recently was a short documentary style video about an old craftsman in Shakim who still makes traditional hand-carved wooden boxes. I came across it randomly while scrolling on Instagram late at night. The idea immediately caught my attention because the colors, the music and the storytelling were incredibly captivating. The craftsman talked about how he had learned the skill from his father and how he has worried that younger generations might lose interest in handmade art. Putting him carved delicate patterns with such precation felt almost therapeutic. What impressed me most was the message of the video that sometimes the most beautiful things in life are created slowly, patiently and with love. That short-lived state with me for days it reminded me how powerful social media can and be when used to share meaningful stories rather than just trends or entertainment. In fact, I even saved the video and showed it to my friends who were just as fascinated as I was.
