I read a book called Peek by Roland Smith. It was about a 15 year old boy who went to Everest with his dad because his dad wanted him to climb the mountain for publicity. I decided to read it because it was a part of my English competition and my perspective about it before reading it was was, this is a kid’s book, why am I reading this? But after reading it, it was mind-blowing to be overdramatic. It was a change my perspective on how to approach situations, even when it’s new to me, and how to be careful with the people around me and to know what their actual intention is because the people around Peek in the book only really wanted him because they wanted him to go to the mountain but the people around me in my life I can only really know what they want out of finding out what they actually think which I can never actually do because the book is a book in the end unlike in real life where nobody can really know what the other person thinks unless they’re a mind reader which is highly unlikely but I’m getting off topic the book was very nice because it changed my perspective on how to view the people around me and how your parents are really the only people you have in life and they’re the only really people around like you never know who’s gonna buy you in the back like it could be your own father which in the book he only really wanted his son because he wanted him for publicity to be the youngest person ever to climb Mount Everest while his mom didn’t want him to climb it for his own safety unlike his father where he didn’t care about his safety he only cared about if he was getting enough publicity or not. The mother is very smart in this book and even after she knew that he was not going to change his mind she gave him tips instead of lecturing him more.
