One rule I didn't like was the school policy on hairstyle. In Thailand, from primary school through high school, students had to follow very strict grooming standards, especially students who studied in public schools. For example, girls under 15 had to keep their hair short around the ears, and we weren't allowed to dye, curl, or style it in any way. Even trying a ponytail was considered breaking the rule. I had to follow this rule throughout my school years. I personally thought it limited our freedom to express ourselves, especially at an age when many students are figuring out their identity. I understand that the rule was meant to promote discipline and create a sense of equality so that students would focus more on studying rather than appearance. But from a student's point of view, it felt controlling and honestly a bit outdated. I also believe the rule didn't really affect students' academic performance. Nowadays, I have noticed that some schools in Thailand are becoming more flexible, allowing students to wear their hair more freely as long as it's neat. I think that's a very positive development because rules should evolve with society. Students today are more creative, more expressive, and I think the school system should support that in a healthy and respectful way.
