I think older people are well versed in a lot of things that youngsters can learn. Today I would like to talk about a skill that I learned from my grandmother. I was never into kicking before until the day that I went to my grandparents house to spend my summer vacation. I can still recall it was a dull afternoon and I was just sleeping on couch and sitting down. My grandfather called me out in the kitchen and asked me for some help. The beautiful aroma of the food was mouth-watering. I asked her if she could teach me what she was cooking. She instantly said yes. She showed me the ingredients and spices used out of the long list that she mentioned. I remember boiled chickpeas, fresh vegetables, clove, cardamom and terming powder etc. I helped her in chopping vegetables and garnishing the dish. It was full of fun. Since then I have been interested in cooking and not only do I do it for myself but also serve other special occasion with the handmade dishes that I go to learn from her. I really feel that it was a jubilant experience for me to be able to not only learn this vital skill but also I was able to spend some quality time with her. This skill really made me feel happy and I will always be grateful to my grandmother for teaching me and helping me develop a new interest.
