Band 8+: Describe a time when you met someone who you became good friend with

I made one of my closest friends, Sarah, a few years ago in a very unexpected way through Facebook. At that time, I was going through a difficult phase in my life. I was struggling with depression, and I was also an introvert who found it hard to socialize. I was especially shy when it came to talking to girls. I never imagined that I would form such a strong friendship online. One day, I came across her profile on Facebook through a mutual friend. I wasn't very confident about sending a message, but eventually, I did. To my surprise, she responded warmly, and we started having casual conversations. At first, I was nervous, but she had a friendly and understanding nature, which made me feel comfortable. She was very easy to talk to, and she never made me feel awkward for being shy. Slowly, our conversations became more frequent, and I started opening up about my thoughts and feelings. She was always supportive and encouraged me to be more confident in myself, even though we had never met in person at that point. I felt like I could trust her. She helped me see things in a more positive way, which was really important during my tough times. Over time, our friendship grew stronger, and we started talking about everything—our interests, dreams, and personal struggles. Eventually, we decided to meet in person, and I was really nervous, but she made it easy to see. Meeting her in real life felt natural because we had already built such a strong bond online. She played a huge role in helping me come out of my shell and overcome my anxiety. Because of her, I gained more confidence in talking to people and expressing myself. Our friendship is built on trust, support, and mutual understanding, which makes it truly special. Even today, she continues to be one of the most important people in my life. Looking back, I feel really grateful that she was able to help me in my life.
