I once disagreed with my sister and the disagreement was about getting admission for masters in a low ranked university. She believes that it doesn’t matter from whether you get a degree from a low ranked or a higher ranked university. What matters is that you get a degree and you can learn it yourself. But for me, I believe that in a country like Pakistan, it really does matter that from which university do you get the degree. And for the jobs, they also shortlist students who are from a higher rank university. And I have personally experienced this because I was working in a company and they gave me the stars to shortlist different CVs for the job. And I were they told me that you have to select or shortlist those students who are from these these universities and those were the top ranked universities. So this issue was really important for me to get into a higher ranked university or reputable university because it is going to impact my job and it will impact me for in the long term. So I had to disagree with her about this issue and we did reach to a conclusion that she eventually agreed that it does matter.
