I'm going to describe a situation where I had to make a very quick decision without much information. It was in the year 2020 when I was working in a maternity department as a ward nurse. I happened to receive a patient who was in labor. In the process of monitoring her, when I did her examination on the vaginal examination, I realized that she had a cord presentation. By mistake, I ruptured the membranes, which was a very risky activity to do. In that case, I just maintained my fingers inside, then I called my team members to inform the medical officer of the situation so that the patient could be rushed in for a cesarean section in order to save the life of the child. During that moment, I instructed the nursing team who were with me and the student nurses to take action. Some were fixing IV lines, some were making sure that the fluid was running. Within 20 minutes, we had already wheeled the patient to the theater. I really feel that I did my best because whenever we experience such a situation, the state of the fetus may not be that good. But during that moment, I was able to make that quick decision, and the client was attended to as soon as possible. The outcome of the baby was also good. The baby had a good score. During that decision, I was able to explain to the client what really happened, and the client was able to appreciate the situation. At the end of the day, the mother and the baby were happy and stable.
