One significant environmental initiative that took place in my country, Kazakhstan, was a program called Clean Air 2030, which was launched by the government in 2021. So the main goal of the program was to reduce air pollution in major industrial cities, where air quality had been a growing concern. So first, this program introduced stricter regulations and stricter emission standards for factories, those who still use a coal. And many companies also were required to install modern filtration systems in order to switch to use cleaner renewable energy sources. Second, the program supported the transition to electric public transport, and governments introduced new electric buses in larger cities. And also, the program promoted the use of bicycles and eco-friendly cars, and authorities helped them offering tax benefits and building new bike lanes in city centers. So the public reaction was mostly positive, especially from environmental activists and younger people. Many of them supported the switch to electric transport, and they were happy to see real steps being taken to clean the air, diminish the air pollution. Also, overall, this program helped raise awareness about air quality and showed that with the right approach and public support, meaningful change is possible.
