If he hadn’t been there, I honestly think would have made a lot of mistakes because I had never done any woodworking before. The whole project took about two days. So it could have been quicker if we hadn’t spent so much time talking and joking while we were working at one point. While we were sending the wood, we started sharing old stories and it made the process feel much more enjoyable. We decided to do it together because I had noticed that my books and journals were all over the place and my dad thought it would be a good bonding activity. And it felt as though we weren’t just building a bookshelf, but also building a stronger relationship. When we finally finished, it looked perfect and I felt as if I had accomplished something meaningful with him.
