Well, I know I don’t necessarily agree that national museums and galleries should be free. I mean, I understand that the benefits of them being open to public for free, for example, the foreign tourists can learn more about the culture of the place they are visiting. It also enables local residents to get in touch with their tradition and history in a more meaningful and tangible way. However, we need to really consider that the funding for these projects has to come out of the taxpayers’ pockets. So I believe that in many countries around the world, there are more, more immediate problems that need to be addressed. A lot of countries lack the proper health, what’s it called? Healthcare. So the government might better fund, like healthcare fund, public schools try to fight homelessness and provide good welfare programs for their citizens. And sure, if those needs and crucial areas are met, then I don’t have any objections with governments subsidizing national museums and galleries. I think it could be a very beneficial development.
