Well, personally, it is very important for the company to have a test to check whether the candidate is qualified for the job, like if they have critical thinking or better information retention. However, I think the company shouldn't have only one test about intelligence, because working effectively does not totally depend on intelligence or critical thinking, but it relies on personality and attitude. To choose the most suitable employees, the company should implement a comprehensive test to consider all aspects of the candidates.
