Today I would like to describe a time when I encouraged someone to do something they didn’t want to do. This person was my close friend and this happened about a year ago. She didn’t want to take an important English exam because she was really afraid of failing. She believed that her English wasn’t good enough and felt very nervous about the result. I tried to encourage her in several ways. First, I reminded her how hard she had studied and how much progress she had made over time. I also shared my own experience and told her that everyone felt nervous before an exam and that making mistakes is a normal part of learning.
