I think there are several ways the emphasis on standardized testing in education systems affects creativity and critical thinking skills. I would say if the education system included practical testing rather than theoretical testing, students could be more creative and improve their critical thinking as well. Whenever we are given an exam with theoretical questions, we don't find any improvement in our creativity and critical thinking because we just memorize our points of view on the topics and write about these memorized ideas in our exam papers. If we had enough opportunities to take exams in a practical way, we might be better at creativity and critical thinking. So I think this emphasis on standardized testing in the education system affects students' creativity and critical thinking.
