Okay, here is my list of potential long-term consequences of social media. I think that, firstly, people are less likely to be in contact. With that, I think people usually have poorer social interaction skills. It's not only that they speak less, but they also tend to think less, I guess. The second point is that people are getting further away in terms of body context and body language. The third point is that people might not be able to communicate effectively based on the media they encounter every day. They remember, they scroll through, and read; everything matters, almost all of it. And that's my opinion on the topic.
