Well, as far as I am concerned, families in the past were bigger, with many generations living together. Today, families are smaller, and people prefer living independently. Besides that, family bonds were stronger. Before, people spent more time together, but now, technology makes them more distant. Urbanization is a major factor. Moreover, Western culture has influenced family values, making people become more independent.
