In my opinion, it depends on the situation. Based on the place and the situation that we are in, my answer may vary. If someone who is in a higher level than I am in any aspect such as knowledge or skill, I prefer to be the listener to learn from their experiences and lessons of life. But if the person who I am communicating is someone who I feel prefers to be more engaged in the communication, I talk based on his or her reaction.
