An example for that would be an average teenage experience nowadays where they see peers wearing fancy stuff and they want to wear the same thing and fit in with their peers. It’s just bled into adulthood as well and I think over-conception nowadays is highly affected by society’s expectations to have certain things even if they don’t need them. So in the end it all depends on people’s surroundings and how they were brought up when it comes to materialistic things in general. I believe that people nowadays over-consum just because of the effects that their surroundings have on them.
