Overall, it is evident that TEFL was a dominant contributor during the given period, while the ratio of Cambridge UCLES CELTA & other degree exam qualifications was lower than that of TEFL. In addition, those two categories also experienced a significant decrease.
In 2007/08, the largest segment was TEFL, which constituted nearly 18,460 females and 6,870 males. However, this year 2008/09 saw a less dramatic decline in 18,446 famales and 6,545 males, which droppedly from 26,9% to 26,2% male. Consequently, the total number of students suffered a sharp fall from 25,446 to 24,917 people.
In contrast, Cambridge UCLES CELTA & other degrees recorded lower figures, starting at 5,382 females and 1,295 males, respectively. Besides, in 2008/09, although there were sharp increases to 5,878 females, the number of males sank to its lowest point at 966 students. Therefore, the total rate of students witnessed a marked rise from 7,484 to 8,028 students.
