Dear Sir or Madam,
Further to your announcement in the January edition of The Times, asking for contributions from your readers for the book that influenced them most, I would like to introduce “Me Before You” by Jojo Moys.
The novel is about a very cheerful and kind girl, who looks for a job and finds one as a part-time caregiver of a young wealthy man who has been paralysed after a road accident. The boy, who used to have a very adventurous life in the past, is struggling with his disability. However, despite all the efforts, he finds it pretty hard to get used to being completely bed-ridden and is planning to travel to Switzerland for euthanasia. This girl tries her best to cheer him up, whether by her colorful clothes, eccentric and funny behaviours, or taking him to a parties or trips. Although she eventually falls in love with the guy, she cannot persuade him not to perform euthanasia.
I read the book five years ago, and was really impressed by how unexpectable life could be. Your future can be completely reversed in a few seconds and through a simple accident, and even your significant wealth cannot alleviate your suffering. This book also demonstrated the power of unconditional love and support and the amount of joy that a caring partner can bring to your desperate days. All these things had a strong impact on me when I was experiencing very dark days.
I believe that this book is written in a quite attractive and easy-to-read tone, and the story is so catchy that you cannot leave reading it. Moreover, the strong love and bonding that develops between the two protagonists during the story is quite impressive and can have a major influence on readers.
I hope my suggestion is persuasive enough and your readers enjoy their time reading this masterpiece.
Yours sincerely,
Parisa Firoozbakhsh
