The given bar chart depicts the proportion of families owning private vehicles in a European country over a period of 30 years starting from 1971.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the percentage of households who own one car witnessed an upward trend during the period while the opposite was true for the families have more than two personal transportations.
Looking at the figures in more detail, the proportion of families have no car was the highest in 1971, at around nearly 50%. However, this number decreased dramatically and reached about 25% in 2001. In contrast, the rate of households just have only one car rose slightly from 33% to 41% in 1981.This figure fell slowly to 35% in 1991 but went up rapidly and reached a peak at over 50% in 2001.Turning to the percentage of households have more than two cars rank third in three years 1971,1981 and 1991.And the figure for this rose slightly from 21% in 1971 to 31% in 1981 then went down again at 19% in 1991.But this number increased significantly to around 36% in 2001 which is higher than figure of people do not have any car.
