The bar graph and pie chart illustrate the three levels of education, viz., people with university degrees, school certificates, and those with no qualification, in the city of Glasgow in 2010.
Overall, the highest number of people possessed a university degree and were aged below 50, while most people who had no qualifications were 75 years of age or older. Most of the people without any qualifications were women.
Around 70% of the people were college graduates and were aged below 50, which dropped to 50% in people belonging to the 50–75 age group. Only 25% of people aged 75 and above held a degree. 20% of the people in the 16–24 age group held a school certificate; the statistics were similar for the people in age groups 35–50 and 50–75. Only 3%, according to the oldest age group, were school graduates. 9% of people aged below 50 had no qualifications, which rose to 30% in the age group 50–75 and peaked to 72% in senior citizens.
Regarding gender, 38% of the women had no educational qualifications, compared to 35% of the men. Furthermore, 33% of both men and women were college graduates. The people with school certificates were 29% of women and 32% of men.
