The two maps illustrate changes introduced in a museum over a 10-year period.
Overall, it is evident that the museum underwent a significant transformation between 1998 and 2008. While major improvements were made in visitor areas, the layout of the exhibition rooms was also changed.
As regards the visitor areas, in 1998 they were quite basic with a shop, a WC and a bags and coats room located to the right of the entrance and the ticket office. In addition, the museum had a small café located to the south of the garden opposite the entrance. In 2008, the rooms designed for visitors replaced the temporary exhibition room at the opposite side of the entrance, with a WC moved next to the café. The garden renovation included a big fountain installed in the centre and a sitting area for visitors built next to the café. Part of the biggest exhibition room was occupied by a new restaurant adjacent to the café.
In 1998, the three museum’s permanent exhibition rooms were situated one to the left and two to the right of the centrally located garden, thus occupying a major part of the museum. In contrast, the temporary exhibition room located to the left of the ticket office, was much smaller. In 2008, it was considerably expanded and moved to the left of the garden to occupy the largest part of the biggest permanent exhibition room.
