The pie chart compared the proportion of the employment rate between the ages of 23 to 65 in both countries, namely Ashby and the UK in 2008.
Overall, most people were employed, with personal service and office work being the most popular jobs in both locations.
Regarding the most common occupations, personal service made up the highest sector in Ashby, accounting for 21% of the total, 3% higher than the figure for the UK. While in the UK, most people preferred to work in offices, with its percentage being 19% which was similar to the figure for people in Ashby. However, the proportion of unemployment rate was the lowest in both Ashby and the UK, at 14% and 10% respectively.
Regarding less common occupations, construction work took up the third in the UK, at 16% which was higher than that of the UK’s, at 10%. The percentage of people working in shops in both countries was relatively similar, at 14%. The most people choose professional jobs in the UK, at 14%, which was higher than 2 times compared to Ashby. Finally, with regard to technical occupations, 9% of Ashby residents compared to 17% the UK worked in this field.
