The two pie charts illustrate the percentage of energy consumption and the proportion of greenhouse gas emissions produced by four different sectors.
Overall, the residential and transport sectors accounted for the largest shares in both charts, while commercial activities contributed the least. However, the residential sector consumed much more energy than it emitted greenhouse gases, whereas the opposite trend can be seen in the transport sector.
In terms of energy consumption, households were responsible for 30%, slightly more than transport (29%) and industry (29%). The commercial sector used the least energy, at only 10%.
When it comes to greenhouse gas emissions, the proportions for transport and industry were both 34%, higher than their respective energy use figures. In contrast, the residential sector’s emissions dropped by half to 15%, while the commercial sector contributed the smallest amount at 7%, despite using 10% of total energy.
In summary, although the same sectors appear in both charts, transport and industry released more emissions relative to their energy use, while residential and commercial sectors produced fewer.
