The pie charts depict the percentages of three food elements in American meals which can cause health problems if consumed a lot. Overall, while sodium and saturated fat intakes are mostly during dinner and lunch, sugar is consumed more with snacks.
Concerning fat and sodium consumption, both of them account for around forty percent for dinners. Lunch is the second largest contributor, providing 29% of sodium and 26% of saturated fat. In addition, breakfast contains these two elements the least of these elements with a proportion of 14% for sodium and 16% for saturated fat, while snacks provide a slightly higher amount of fat slightly over a fifth and the same sodium level as breakfast (14%).
Focusing on added sugar, snacks make up the largest share comprising 42% of daily intake. This is significantly higher than dinner (23%) and lunch (19%). Furthermore, similar to the other nutrients, breakfast contributes the least to sugar intake, with just less than a fifth.
