Overall, tourism was the largest source of income in Morocco in 2003, while agriculture contributed the smallest proportion. In addition, income from fishing showed an upward trend over the period.
Looking at the pie chart, tourism accounted for the highest share of Morocco’s income, at 26%. This was followed closely by industry, which made up 24% of the total. Workers’ remittance was another important source, contributing 21%. By contrast, petroleum and fishing represented much smaller proportions, at 14% and 13% respectively. Agriculture generated the least income, accounting for only 2% of the country’s total revenue.
Regarding fishing income, the line graph indicates that earnings from this sector generally increased between 1982 and 2003. Although there were some fluctuations during the period, the overall trend was upward, and the figure at the end of the period was considerably higher than at the beginning.
In conclusion, tourism, industry and workers’ remittances were the main contributors to Morocco’s economy in 2003, whereas agriculture played a minor role. Meanwhile, income from fishing rose overall throughout the period shown.
