With respect to shop openings, the numbers were volatile with period of growth followed by declines. Nearly 9000 shops opened which it was its peak point in 2011. Conversely, the figure for shop openings plummeted at just under 400 in 2012, then it rose significantly just over 6000 in 2014. Moreover, the statistics for shop closures fell significantly to exactly 4000 in 2015, ultimately stabilizing at around 4000 in the subsequent 2 years until 2017. It, then declined to 3000 in 2018, reaching its lowest point.
