Overall, the size of the ozone hole in Antarctic experienced an upward trend over the given period. Noticeably, the production of freon was the only one undergoing the downward trend among the three categories.
In 1980, there were around 50 thousand square kilometers in Antarctic Ozone Hole. Subsequently, it increased significant to four-times size after a decade before climbing moderate to approximately 240 thousand square kilometers in 2000.
Regarding the production of damaging gases, the freon production initially was the highest with just below 160 thousand metric tonnes and then climbed substantial to the peak of 200 thousand over the next five years. Conversely, the figures had a reverse pattern after 1985. It dropped dramatically to merely 20 thousand metric tonnes from 1985 to 2000. However, the production of NO2 and H2O2 shared a similar pattern. They both increased moderate between 1980 and 1990 before rising considerable to 140 thousand metric tonnes and 80 thousand respectively in 2000.
