The line graph illustrates how many people used the Internet for different activities in 2015, 2020, and the projections for 2025 and 2030.
Overall, there is a rise in the number of users in three categories, except for downloading films, which shows a steady decline. While sending emails remained almost unchanged in the first five years, shopping is predicted to increase and surpass emailing to become the most common activity from 2025 onwards.
In 2015, the figure for online shopping started at around 40 million, after which it rose sharply to nearly 80 million in 2020. A similar trend can be seen in online courses, which grew from about 35 million to roughly 62 million in the same period. Meanwhile, the number of people sending emails stayed stable at 80 million. In contrast, downloading films accounted for more than 70 million users in 2015 but then declined gradually to nearly 60 million by 2020.
From 2025 to 2030, both online shopping and online courses are expected to continue rising, but to different extents, with the former reaching approximately 100 million and the latter around 80 million. By comparison, downloading films will fall gradually to about 50 million, while sending emails is projected to increase slowly to 90 million.
