The incorporation of technology in daily living activities has grown considerably in the past decades. This text will report on the percetage of households with electrical appliances, and the amount of hours per week that people use for house work, between 1920 and 2019.
Firstly, the washing machine was the main electrodomestic used by humans by 1920 with a 40% of the population having one at home, this percentage has not changed much during the years, by 2019 nearly 65% of the people used this kind of machines. Secondly, the refrigerator was not used by anyone on the ’20 but five decades later this electrical appliance has reach the 100% of houses having it, this percetage has been maintaned until 2019. Thirstly, the vacuum cleaner was used by 30% of the people in 1920 and 100% on 2019.
In matter of the quantity of hours that people spend in housework, these numbers have decresed almost constantly during the years. In 1920, the house tasks as washing clothes, preparing meals and, cleaning, used to be 50 per week, by 1960 this number goes down to 20% and in 2019 the hours per week destinated to house work reach number 10.
In conclusion, while the implemantation of all electrical devices for helping at home tasks has increased considerably during the decades, the amount of hours that people dedicates for housework per week has gone down from 50 to 10.
