Overall, men usually work more than women in both governmental and private sectors. Meanwhile, the share of women working different hours is almost the same in both sectors; however, the share of men working longer hours is higher in the private sector.
As regards men, the share of those who work more than 30 hours a week is higher in the private sector. To be exact, 20% of men in the private sector work for 31-45 hours weekly, and 34% of them spend over 46 hours at work, which is 5% and 4% more than in the government organizations, respectively. It is also worth mentioning that only 5% of men in the private organizations work for 1-2 hours a week, compared to a much higher 23% of men in the governmental organizations who work the same hours weekly. Similarly, 9% of male workers in the governmental sector work for 13-30 hours a week, whereas 21% of men in the private sector work the same amount of time. In contrast, the proportions of men working 6-12 hours a week were more evenly distributed in both sectors, comprising 20% in the private sector and 23% in the governmental sector.
As for the women, the amount of time spent on work every week is almost the same in both sectors. Specifically, in both sectors, the share of female employees working over 46, 31-45, and 6-12 hours a week is 4%, 20%, and 35%, respectively. The proportion of women working for 1-2 hours weekly in the private sector comprised 21%, which is 3% more than in the governmental sector. Turning to the 13-30 hours a week category, the proportion of women in the private sector accounted for 20% and 23% in the governmental sector.
