The bar graph illustrates the proportion of men, women and children of the UK who ate five portions of fruit and vegetables per day from 2001 to 2008.
Overall, It was noticed that female part of the UK consumed the most significant amount of fruit and vegetables per day for the entire period of time. Women demonstrated the sharpest increase as well. Men and children showed stable percentage for the first three years before rising dramatically.
Female part of the UK’s population established their lowest percentage of 22% in 2001, while males reached approximately the same percentage three years after. For the first five years the percentage of women had been rising and in 2006 it reached its peak of approximately 34%. However, after the sharp increase the percentage began slowly dropping, ending with 30% in 2008.
The decline for both gender and age groups had a similar pace and happened in 2008 for each column. Before the plunge, the trend of fruits and vegetables between men and children demonstrated gradual rise every year. In years between 2001 and 2003 the percentage for males and kids remained stable (about 17% and 12% respectively). The highest interest for those refreshments between children was established in 2007.
