The pie charts illustrate the proportion of five electricity production by fuel source in France over the two decades from 1990 to 2010. Measures are given in percentage.
Overall, what stands out from the pie charts is that nuclear power experienced a dramatic increase, whereas other fuel sources witnessed a sharp decrease in the given period.
If we look at 1990, nuclear power and hydro power sources were small proportion of France electricity production 17% and 6% respectively. Moving on to other sources: Oil, coal and natural gas, these three trends divided the electricity production with nearly the same percentages 22%, 26% and 28% in turn.
Regarding to 2010, sources for electricity production had experienced considerable changes. Nuclear power reached the peak of production at 67% , almost four time higher than 1990. Coal and Oil decreased roughly two times and taking 13% for each. Natural gas saw the highest decline among resources by 7 times, while hydro power reached the bottom of France electricity production with 2%.
