Overall, among four countries shown, Portugal and Italia spent far more money on roads and transport than the left two countries. It is also noticeable that the UK spent the last amount of money on roads and transport in all considered years.
In 1990, Portugal spent about 27% of its money on roads and transport, following by Italia, whose proportion of expenditure made up just over 20%. In contrast, UK and USA spent only about 10% of their government budget. According to the data, the next year all countries reduced their roads and transport expenditure nearly by 1-3%.
In 2000, Italy, UK and USA increased their spending on road and transport to around 23%, 12% and 14 respectively, while Portugal continued to reduce its road and transport spending down to nearly 22%. During the next 5 years the only country, where road and transport expenditure had been witnessed an increase was USA, at 15%. On the other hand, the remain three countries continued to decrease their spending, with Portugal, Italy and UK by 2%, 5% and 4% respectively.
