Overall, it can be clearly seen from the chart that, World, Africa and Asia’s population will increase gradually, while Europe, South America and North America’s population will grow slightly, which lives in urban areas until 2030.
In detail, in 2003, population living in urban areas was almost half in world, about 40% in Africa, close to one half in Asia, however it will rise significantly to 60% in world, 50% in Africa and about 51% in Asia in 2030.
On the other hand, Europe, South America and North America’s population living in urban areas were three out of four, almost 78% and about 80% respectively in 2003, in the future they will climb slightly to about 79% in Europe, about 84% in South America and about 82% in North America in 2030 (estimated). In the future, South America’s population will be highest percentage in the world, which will live in urban areas.
