Overall, Indian students had the best foreign language proficiency among six countries. Moreover, except for Thailand, women in the other countries were better at other languages than men.
For male students, the percentage of Indian students with perfect skills in another language was the highest, at 56%. The proportion of students in Romania fluent in a second language was higher than that in Vietnam, at 42% and 40%. In Russia and Thailand, respectively 35% and 30% of male students excelled in a different language. The percentage of those fluent in a second language in China was the lowest, at 17%.
Moving to female students, more students were fluent in another language in India and Romania, with the former (being the highest) at 65% and the latter being slightly lower at 64%. Vietnam had a higher percentage than Russia, with approximately 56%, closely followed by Russia at nearly 42%. The percentage of students with good second language skills in China was 32%, while Thailand showed the lowest percentage, at 27%.
