The maps illustrate how the ground floor of a particular art gallery has changed from 2005 to the present.
Overall, the place has experienced significant changes with the addition, replacement, and relocation of various facilities. The most noticeable changes have taken place on the left of the ground floor.
In 2005, there was a cafe and shop at the top left corner, while an exhibition room 4 was located at the bottom left corner, with a gallery office in between. On the right-hand side of the map, there were 3 exhibition rooms, namely 1, 2, and 3 from the bottom to the top. In addition, the steps were at the bottom, while there were stairs to the upper floor between the cafe and shop and the exhibition room 3. Besides, a reception desk was nearby in the middle, while the remaining space was an entrance hall.
At present day, exhibition rooms 1, 2, and 3 have remained unchanged while the gallery office and exhibition room 4 have been destroyed, making way for temporary exhibitions and a children’s area. In addition, the cafe and shop has been replaced by a gallery shop, with vending machines below. The steps to the entrance have been narrowed towards the right to make way for a ramp to wheelchairs. The same pattern could be seen in the stairs to the upper floor, which have reduced in size towards the opposite side to give way for a new lift. Moreover, the area for the reception desk has been moved towards the center of the map and changed into an oval one. Finally, these changes have become convenient for people and facilitated more access for children and disabled individuals.
