The maps illustrate how the ground floor of a particular art gallery has changed from 2005 to the present.
Overall, the ground floor has experienced significant changes with the addition, replacement, and relocation of various facilities. The most noticeable changes have taken place on the left of the ground floor.
In 2005, there was a cafe and shop at the top left corner, while an exhibition room 4 was located at the bottom left corner, with a gallery office in between. On the right-hand side, there were three exhibition rooms, namely 1, 2, and 3 from the bottom to the top. In addition, steps to the entrance were situated at the bottom, while stairs to the upper floor were between the cafe and shop and the exhibition room 3. Besides, a reception desk was situated near the center of the map, while the remaining space was an entrance hall.
At present, exhibition rooms 1, 2, and 3 have remained unchanged, while the stairs to the upper floor have been narrowed towards the right, making way for a new lift. The same pattern could be seen in the steps to the entrance, which have been reduced in size towards the opposite side to give way for a ramp for wheelchairs. In addition, the reception desk has been moved towards the middle of the map and changed into an oval one. At the same time, the cafe and shop has been replaced by a new gallery shop, with vending machines below. Moreover, the gallery office and the exhibition room 4 have been destroyed, making way for temporary exhibitions and a children’s area. Finally, these changes have become more convenient for people and facilitated more access for both children and disabled citizens.
