The graph illustrates the percentage of the UK population (over 4 years old) in terms of radio and television audiences in each hour every day in October to December 1992.
Overall, both media had their peak hour with some fluctuations before and after reaching their highest point. People preferred to listen to radio in the morning and watch television at night.
For radio, the percentage of audiences experienced its lowest point, nearly 5%, in the starting hour, which was 6 am. The figure grew until its peak, which was almost 30%, before gradually declining to around 5% at the end of the period, which was 6 am the next day.
Almost nobody watched television at 6 am. However, people started to watch in the next hours and reached its highest point, which was almost 50%, at 8 pm. The highest number of television audiences outnumbered radio. But, people in the UK who watched television slowly decreased until the end of the period. The number slightly fell to nearly 5% at 6 am the following day.
