The pie chart illustrates the distribution of budget across various categories by the UAE government in 2000.
Overall, it is apparent that the UAE government had a budget of over 300 billion AED. Additionally, the largest portion of money was allocated to social security, while transport constituted the smallest share.
In detail, the highest share of expenditure was distributed to social security at 100 billion AED, which was almost double the amount allocated to health and personal social services at 53 billion AED. Notably, education was allocated a considerably smaller sum of 38 billion AED. Moreover, the amount of money for debt interest and for others was equal at 23 billion AED.
Among the remaining sectors, defence received 22 billion AED, making it slightly higher than law and order, where only 17 billion AED was used. Noticeably, housing, heritage and environment accounted for 15 billion AED. The figures for industry, agriculture, employment, and transport were the lowest, with the former making up 13 billion AED and the latter 9 billion AED.
