The bar chart illustrates the proportion of UK citizens who donate money to charity across different age categories over a 20-year period, starting from 1990. In general, while the 18-25 and 26-35 age groups contributed the least amount to charity, the older age groups donated a larger percentage.
For young British people in the 18-25 age group, the percentage of those donating was just over 15% in 1990, but it decreased to around 7% in 2010. A similar decline was observed in the 26-35 age group, which went down from approximately 32% in 1990 to 28% in 2010. Notably, in 1990, the highest contribution came from the 35-50 age group, which donated just over 40%. However, this percentage fell to 35% by 2010.
Regarding other categories, in 1990, 35% of British individuals aged 51-65 contributed to charity, and this number rose to nearly 40% in 2010. Conversely, individuals aged 65 and over donated about 32% in 1990, which increased to 35% in 2010.
