The bar chart illustrates the total number of minutes of telephone calls in Australia, by categories, between 2001 and 2008.

Overall, Australian people made local calls the most throughout the period, fallowed by National and International calls. By comparison, mobiles had the least minutes of telephone calls by the end of the time given.

In terms of local calls, started the period with 72 billion minutes. The figure increased significantly and reached their peak at 90 billion calls in 2005. From that point onwards, the time that spent in local calls decreased and hit a low-point of 72 minutes in 2008. In contrast, national and international calls were the second category that Australians made the most phone calls. In 2001, the figure accounted for 38 billion minutes. From 2002 figure showed an upward trend throughout the period and ended the year with 61 billion minutes.

Regarding mobiles, this category started the period with almost zero minutes, and rose gradually to the end of the period. The figure reached the highest with 46 billion minutes in 2008.
